As Jesus lay in His straw-filled manger, the shadow of the coming cross loomed overhead. God sent His Son from Heaven’s glory to the humblest of places at Christmas so that you and I could share the promise of Easter.
Emily Elliot’s hymn, “Come to my Heart, Lord Jesus” expresses it beautifully.
Thou didst leave Thy throne and Thy kingly crown
When Thou camest to earth for me
But in Bethlehem’s home was there found no room
For Thy Holy Nativity.
Thou camest o Lord, with the living word
That should set Thy people free
But with mocking scorn and a crown of thorn
They bore Thee to Calvary.
Oh come to my heart Lord Jesus
There is room in my heart for thee.
I hope you make room for Jesus in your heart this Christmas.
